We have not seen „The Odyssey” by Christopher Nolan yet. We are looking forward to watching this movie and we do not mind dramaturgical fantasy in it. Particularly after we travelled a bit along Baltic Sea and learned about the book by Felice Vinci „The Baltic origins of Homer’s epic tales”. According to this Italian author the events of Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey took place in the Baltic and not the Mediterranean. The book tries to reveal how a climate change forced the migration of a people and their myth to Greece. Vinci identifies the geographic sites of Troy and Ithaca in the Baltic Sea. And argues that the Baltic geography, climate and ancient clothes better fit Homer’s descriptions. Well, we can not solve this dilemma. Instead we will watch the film that seems to be a controversial adaptation of the ancient epic poem and read the contemporary book that raise historical controverses. And what do you think?
