Bad weddings 2

Bad weddings 2 - read reviews before you watch it An elderly couple living in a French province (beautiful landscapes) has four daughters and four sons in law. Every young man has different roots, culture, faith, skin colour etc. Even they are so different, one day they make the same decision - to quite France and start a new, better life elsewhere. Madame and Monsieur Verneuil do their best to keep the big family close. Do their best? Well, that is the question.  We decided quite spontaneously to watch this film which is a sequel of a movie released 2014 (Bad wedding). We were in a mood for a comedy. But if we had read some reviews before, we would have decided otherwise. “Slapstick combined with uninspired flat jokes” and similar commentaries would have changed our mind or at least decrease our hope. And so we decided to watch this movie with some expectations. And we came out disappointed. C’est la vie.   Maria&Paul Summa summarum: 4/10 MORE INFO

Happy as Lazzaro

Happy as Lazzaro Alice Rohrwacher, an Italian director and screenwriter, took us into a fairy world tale. A fairy tale for adults, in which she shows a kindly boy named Lazzaro and his special approach to life. The film is full of metaphors and memorable scenes. Our favorite scene was the organ concert and mysterious music. The film is not only about the specific friendship of the good-natured peasant Lazzaro and the trifler marquis Tancredi. Also important is the village of Inviolata, stopped in time, and its inhabitants - portrayed with humor. The tobacco plantation of the Alfonsina awning and the face of the modern city were less funny though. We enjoyed the film, it took us for almost two hours into a different (?) world. However, we did not like the end. We knew from the reviews that it would surprise us, and it did. The movie is an Italian-Swiss coproduction in which one of the important roles is played by the director’s sister, Alba Rohrwacher.

How it will happen? And for what price? This you can watch in a black comedy by Armando Iannucci. The  Death of Stalin - Official Trailer Who was Joseph Stalin, the most frightening Soviet leader? His son Vasily says in the movie: “My father was a great social scientist, but we the people of the Soviet Union are not laboratory animals”.  A big part of the history shown in a Monthy Pythonesque way. Wolkenbruch – a successful Swiss comedy among the Jewish minority

Wolkenbruch - a successful Swiss  comedy When Paul was a boy his parents often drove via Zurich to Bern. The quickest way coming from the South passed through the so called Kreis 3. Especially on Saturdays this calm and seemingly boring part of Zurich turned into a different place. Bearded men with long black coats and big hats were walking around. – Who are they? – Paul asked his parents. – They are going to their church service – explained his mother. – Church, on Saturday? – Paul wondered.  Wolkenbruch - best Swiss film 2018 Almost forty years later, during our visit to Switzerland, the biggest cinema hit is called “Wolkenbruch”. The film staged exactly in this part of the city is a love story. A young orthodox Jew, Motti (Mordechai), feels attracted by his fellow student Laura, while his energetic and dominant mother tries her matchmaking skills within the Jewish community. After many fruitless attempts, upon a Rabbi suggestion, Motti’s parents send him to Isra
